Motorized Electric Scooter Benefits

Freedom and independence with no boundaries arScooter Link Low Price Guaranteee certainly high on everyone's list of wants, especially for those who may need  handicap medical equipment. Electric scooters can be an excellent product to help provide those in need a way to get back this mobility.  The use of an electric motorized scooter is essential to those individuals who may have limited use of their legs, but do not want or are unable to walk longer distances. A number of medical disorders involving the heart, lungs and skeletal system may make moving around a real problem. Obesity, diabetes and arthritis can especially contribute to a sedentary and even secluded lifestyle.  If you or a loved one are unable to "get out there" and be part of the social situations once enjoyed, then an electric scooter may just be the missing piece to getting back your independence. We are here for you 7 days a week with special pricing for the uninsured. Call our friendly, knowledgeable staff today.

1. I want to get mobile.  Would I be better off with an Electric Wheelchair or Scooter?
An electric wheelchair has a joystick that works your speed and direction. A scooter will have what is called a driving tiller. The driving tiller has something you grip with one or both hands to steer with. The tiller has forward & reverse thumb levers built in & with a special tiller (called a delta tiller), your forward & reverse are applied by squeezing just your fingers as you grip the tiller.  Although many people are used to having something to grip to steer with, a joystick (such as what is found on an electric wheelchair) is extremely easy to maneuver once a person gets used to it. In addition an electric wheelchair works much better in a home to get through doors & around furniture. The smaller your home, the more it makes sense that an electric wheelchair is your best bet if your usage is primarily in the home. For outside use only, an electric scooter is perfect. While electric scooters work great outside, you will want to make sure that you pick a scooter that works for your size, weight & the terrain you will be using it for. You will also find that electric wheelchairs work well outside. Again, you will want to make sure that you pick a wheelchair that works for your size, weight & the terrain you will be using it for. Your Scooter Link representative can help you make the right decision. 1 888 910-0444

2. What types of scooters do you sell?
All the mobility scooters we sell are electric. Most operate with two 12 volt batteries, which work together in a 24 volt system. We carry a wide variety of scooters. If you want to be able to travel with your scooter, we have foldable or take apart scooters that are designed for lightweight transport. We understand your need for a lightweight transportable mobility scooter. We also carry rugged terrain scooters designed for outside use over grass, hills and uneven land. In addition, Scooter Link has everything in-between in all shapes and sizes. We carry three & four wheel scooters.Evel Knievel on Electric Scooter We at Scooter Link understand that not everyone is the same weight, size or height. It is for this reason that we have worked so hard to find you the very best variety in bariatric heavy weight capacity scooters. Our wide range of 3 & 4 wheel scooters for 200, 300, 400 to 500 lb. plus weight capacity will satisfy the needs of all our scooter users. We also carry scooters for people of all different heights, from very short to very tall and everything in between.  Many of our scooters even come with a slide back seat adjustment or a twosome seat. We carry electric scooters for leading manufacturers such as Pride Mobility, Leisure Lift, PaceSaver, Amigo, Golden Technologies, Drive, Palmer Industries, Wheelcare, EV Rider, CTM, Active Care & Ranger.

3. Which scooter is better for my needs, a three or four wheel design?
Although four wheel scooters are best for uneven terrain, they do have some drawbacks. You actually have less leg room on the floorboard of the scooter, since the front wheel section takes up some of the front floor space. For your feet to lay flat on the floor, they are further back behind the front wheels. Some people actually place their feet on top of the shroud covering the wheels. Another option available with many scooters is the adjustable sliding seat and extended frame which will give the user more leg room. On the three wheel models your feet can go further up alongside the driving tiller since the floor extends along both sides of it. In addition, the turning radius of four wheel scooters is not as tight as with the three wheel scooters. Since a four wheel scooter is a rectangle, its square front end makes it difficult to turn through narrow doorways. With a three wheel scooter being a triangle, it is much easier to maneuver its leading point through doorways and close quarters. Most three wheel scooters are very stable. Some even have side anti-tip wheels for extra safety. Four wheel scooters may be the right choice for extra large living spaces or when using scooters outside only.

4. What is the difference between a front wheel and rear wheel drive scooter?
Front wheel drive mobility scooters can carry on average up to 200 lbs. and are primarily designed for indoor and level pavement use. Rear wheel drive mobility scooters generally have much more power and traction and are designed logically with the weight of the driver over the powered wheels.

5. Can you explain the best way to care for the batteries in my scooter?
Electric mobility scooters typically use U-1 batteries (33 to 36 amp) that can be recharged from household outlets. If you charge your electric scooter at night, it should be fully charged in the morning and ready for 4 to 6 hours of continuous driving time. This should get you through the day with no problem. If you do not use your electric mobility scooter for a long period of time, you should still charge it at least once a week. If your scooter batteries go completely dead, the charger will not come on and you may need to put some charge into the batteries with another source until your onboard or offboard charger comes on. If your batteries stay dead for a long period of time, it can ruin them. The older your batteries get, the shorter you're driving time will be. The average life expectancy of your batteries is one to two years. With proper charging, your scooter will always be ready to go when you are.

6. Will I get the best price on my mobility scooter from Scooter Link?
Our goal is to have you as our customer. We know we need to give you the very best price and service on your scooter purchase.  We compare prices daily with our competitors. We do our best to make sure that we are a few dollars under the lowest price scooter store. We also offer an additional, online 2% discount on most electric scooters with a parts warranty that can't be beat. A nationwide labor warranty is also available on all our scooters. This is what we mean by, "Lowest Price, Best Service."  If you find a lower price on any handicap scooter, please ask about our 115% price guarantee.

7. What do you charge for shipping?
We offer free shipping on all our electric scooters in the Continental United States.  Orders going to the Non-Continental United States and Canada may be charged shipping in some cases, but not all and never without being given a shipping quote first.
